Reminds me of my old army camel hydration system but with additional pockets. There are so many features engineered into this product that makes this attractive. See list above.The one major design flaw is the bladder that was shipped with this unit is a wide-mouth bladder. The hanger (what secures the bladder to the pack) for the bladder is a mouth-threaded type – the bladder’s mouth feeds through the flap with a hole, then the cap and the cap’s securing ring goes over the mouth which then holds the bladder in place. The pack is designed for the standard mouthed bladder which is not compatible with the wide-mouth bladder that was shipped. The good news is, buying a replacement bladder with a standard mouth that fits the hanger, is easy on Amazon.The light insulation goes a long way in keeping water cold longer. Going back to high school science class – reminds us that heat transfer via radiation, conduction, and convection. The foil reflects any radiated heat, and the foam reduces transfer by air. If I expect to be in insane heat, I fill my bladder with ice cubes then with water. I throw the whole hydration pack into the freezer and time how long it takes to turn the water to slush. I avoid turning the water to ice because I want to be able to drink it soon after deploying out into the hot weather. The ice cubes will melt over time and also reduce the risk of overheating during activities. If I go through all the water before the ice melts, then it helps chill the second round of water at the next fill-up.I’ve seen other packs that have more “backpack” storage, and sometimes, I rather have something more compact. This pack has two decent pockets, top and bottom – large enough to store some energy bars, candy, keys, and cell phone plus more. This seems to be a well-made product with a lot of attention to details (minus a few) and I expect it to be durable and last a long time.If over long term use, my feelings change about this product, I will update this review.
