Two criteria I am rating these high for: usefulness and build quality. I am very tempted to slash one star for the low quality of the instructions, but once you get a grip of how to use the instructions are not that important.On usefulness, this is the one accessory I had to improvise for many times, not as much with sports equipment but when carrying large wood boards and lumber pieces tied directly to the roof rack. For how often I need to carry on the car some oversized stuff there’s no way to justify getting a truck, either permanently or as a rental. But it is these one-off purchases that I had to improvise for to avoid chipping and dinging and damaging a roof rack intended for carrying luggage and well distributed loads that are rather soft, not solid lumber or wood planks. These pads ensure load distributing over the arched bars of my roof rack eliminating sharp pressure points. Also make for a quick setup for kayaks or paddle boards, in a hurry and for a short distance drive, though the dedicated carrying racks for such equipment is better in my opinion.The pads are well made, with good quality Velcro, and the included cords and straps are sturdy and of good quality. All fits well, reliably, and the setup is much quicker than other carrying accessories mounted on the roof rack.My only word of caution is for the abrasion resistance of these pads. I have not put enough use on these to fully gauge how well they resist tearing, or how fast they may wear out. But the material feels rather thin – hope my first impression proves incorrect, and these are actually durable. Cannot subtract from my rating based on what I anticipate, though.The instructions are quite a letdown: wordy with pictures that are both not great, and not showing enough details.
