I was worried, due to the price being so low, if this would be enough to keep me visible. I’m surprised to feel confident wearing this year round! The straps are about a foot before Velcro’ed, & the Velcro is strong enough to hold when tugged at. The straps are not only neon yellow, but highly reflective because of their lamenated coating. It’s like the glossy finish directs the light like a magnifying glass. I The vest is large enough to fit over my layers comfortably & loose. The vest comes down to rest between my ribs & belly button. It breathes like a jersey, so it won’t insulate. While it is water proof, it won’t keep you dry; it just won’t fall apart or never dry when it gets wet. Both the straps & the vest are extremely light weight. I bike to & from work, the grocery store, bike shops, metros, etc. & my roommate has taken it on a 10 mile run with it. I often forget I’m wearing it, ironically. BONUS: the belly of the vest includes a vipper pouch for your phone & keys!
