PFFY Sun Bucket Hats for Men Women 3” Wide Brim UPF 50+ Fishing & Beach Hat

This is a very light weight sun protection hat. Baseball caps, especially those dreadfully dangerous kind with the opening for size adjustment do NOT provide enough protection against skin cancer. Both of my brothers had to have surgery to remove skin cancers caused by that opening. I have had a malignant melanoma removed from the center of my nose. So I take sun protection hats seriously. Very Seriously! The one problem I have with heavier or thicker hats is they get very hot. So I was very glad to find this light weight one. I don’t live in a windy area, so I don’t think that will be a problem with this light weight one. It does have a handy chin strap and a size adjustment cord built in. I couldn’t pass up this very affordable hat for less than $9, and if it works well, I look forward to buying more of them! If I have any problems, I will update this review with that information. I bought this hat while on vacation in Sedona, AZ. My family likes to hike and I found the sun, even in February, was brutal on my neck and face with just a ball cap, so I wanted to try a wide brim hat.First of all, the wide brim did indeed protect me from the sun, but that would be expected. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how light this hat is. The pictures made me think the top part was a thicker material, but it’s really pretty thin and light. Between that and the vents, my head never felt hot.I have a larger head than average, although not by much, and this hat is easily adjustable with a cord that goes around the base. It’s big enough for hat sizes larger than mine, and can adjust to much smaller.My only complaint, and it’s minor, is that the hat came folded in half in a very flat package, so there were creases in the brim that I couldn’t totally flatten. But I wasn’t wearing this as formal wear, so it didn’t matter much at all to me.
