Osprey Raven 14L Women’s Mountain Biking Backpack with Hydraulics Reservoir

I own a couple of Osprey packs, and they consistently impress me with their quality and design. They’ve literally thought of everything when designing a pack, and the Raven mountain biking backpack is no exception.This is first and foremost a hydration pack, and it does that very well. It comes with a removable Osprey Hydraulics LT 2.5 L reservoir. I found the reservoir to be really well designed. It opens up all the way across the top for ease of filling and cleaning. The bit valve has a little lever to seal it when you’re not using it to prevent leakage, and there is a magnet near the bit valve that attaches to the sternum strap to secure it when you’re not using it. The hydration pack is held in place in the pack with a tiny little plastic “hydraclip” at the top that works surprisingly well and is a lot less of a pain than the velcro that other hydropacks use. Best of all, if you have another Osprey pack with a hydraclip, the resevoir in this pack will work with it!In terms of storage, Osprey put a ton of storage features into a relatively small space with the Raven. The biggest pocket is really deep and has two mesh mini-pockets at the back that can hold a spare pair of shoes or other supplies. In front of that is a slightly smaller pocket, and on the very front is an essentials pocket with two small mesh pockets for phones/wallets and a clip for your keys. On the bottom of the pack is a tool compartment, with a removable tool roll where you can store screwdrivers, wrenches, and a small pump for any repairs you might need to make on the trail. If that’s not enough pockets, there are also mesh water bottle pockets on either side, and zippered compartments on both sides of the waist strap. There is also space to stash your helmet in between the essntials pocket and the main pocket, or you can opt to use the lidlock helmet attachment clip to hook your helmet to the pack using the helmet’s vent holes.In terms of comfort, this bag feels great one, even when totally full. It uses Osprey’s Airscape foam padding on the back and straps to give the pack a comfortable and cool fit. The waist and sternum straps hold the pack close when you need them, and the excess strap material can easily be rolled up out of the way when you don’t want to wear the straps. The waist strap uses a traditional buckle closure, while the sternum strap uses a magnetic closure. I was worried that the magnet wouldn’t hold well, but it’s designed in such a way that it will only opening by flipping the top part upward, which I found out is something that I don’t really do on accident, so it stays put really well!This pack is really versatile and packed with storage and features that are designed really well for my needs when biking or out in nature. The stitching is solid and and all of the parts seem really strong and durable. I know I will be using this pack for years to come!
