I use carabiners all the time, and different styles and sizes fill different roles. These Nite Ize “S-Biners” are a good product, and have a couple of features that you may not find in the competition. They have two distinct sections, and each section has its own gate which can be locked closed via a small sliding plastic part. The lock-up is secure. It is possible that it can be broken through or the plastic slider can catch on something and disengage, but the likelihood of that happening is very small (and the gate is still spring loaded). So for all practical purposes the gates are strong and quite secure. The main steel S-curved section is very robust on these size #4 versions. Nite Ize rates them at seventy-five pounds, but I suspect it would take a good deal more force to break or seriously distort them. I went out to my garage and put seventy-six pounds of force on one as measured by a luggage scale, and it did not feel like it was anywhere remotely close to its max. No bending, no distortion, no nothing. Just a solid, solid performance you can trust your gear to without worries. One final point, I like the cool multicolor “spectrum” finish. It adds a little pizazz to something that is otherwise a pretty mundane item.
